Polystone and Gold Leaf Materials
This figurine of Date Masamune on his steed is crafted from polystone and gold leaf. Polystone is a kind of compound made mostly of polyurethane resin. It’s combined with powdered stone add-ons for added weight. This also provides added weight or a porcelain-like feel to the figurine.
Craftsmen prefer this material since polystone is effective at keeping a crisp finish. It’s also corrosion and chemical resistant, making it a perfect material for figurines. As for gold leaf, this is very much used for painting the gold details on Date Masamune’s figurine.
Created by Skilled Craftsmen
Each figurine produced undergoes thorough inspection and supervision to achieve its completeness. The popular crescent shape on this warrior’s helmet is coated with gold leaf. This is to give off a real golden sheen to it.
Other colors that you’ll find on the figurine are black and red on its woven cords. These are set on Date Masamune’s armor. It has a red base and a nameplate as well. Written on its nameplate is Masamune’s year of birth and his death.
Professional craftsmen create all these historical figures. Each of these are finished with the expertise and skills of the said experts.
The figurine is based on a prototype model to capture an almost perfect replica of the real Sengoku warrior. Each process: from cutting to finishing, is done by expert hands. This is to ensure top-notch quality for every product.
Kensin Co., LTD decided to reproduce his image as the energetic person riding on a horse. According to the history, Date Masamune is known to be one-eyed person and his nickname is one-eye man, Dokuganryu. Kensin Co., LTD also tried best in reproducing the Date Masamune as a one-eyed person.
The One-Eyed Dragon
Date Masamune is a popular Sengoku warlord. He was called the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu. He was a major power in the north, thus, was considered suspicious by potential rivals.
Under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, he reduced the size of Dates land holdings. This was due to his tardiness in aiding the Siege of Odawara. Later under Tokugawa, his lands were once again increased. Yet like Hideyoshi, was also suspicious of Date and his policies.
Despite their suspicions, Date Masamune served both Tokugawa and Hideyoshi with great loyalty. He was also respected for his ethics and good personality.
