Coloring the wall’s surface is done using Chuku – a fungus pigment made from shells. It is often used for coloring buildings during Japan’s ancient period.
Enshrined figures guarding the gate are the thunder gods Fujin and Raijin. Even as replicas, the details of these gods are perfectly mirrored. Their color and texture are made as close as possible to the real figures. For the large lantern, it’s made using Japanese paper to display its authenticity.
