The Legendary Warrior – Kuroda Nagamasa
Kuroda Nagamasa was a Daimyo in the late Azuchi – Momoyama, and the early Edo times. He was the son of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s chief adviser and strategist, Kuroda Kanbei.
His childhood name was Shojumaru, and at an early age, his father was tried, as well as sentenced as a spy by Nobunaga. He was also kidnapped and almost killed as a hostage. But with the help of his wife and Yamauchi Kazutoyo, Takenaka Hanbei ended up saving him.
After the death of Oda in Honno-Ji, Nagamasa chose to serve Toyotomi Hideyoshi with his father. They even participated in the assault of Chugoku region. Aside from this, he also joined the first Korean campaign. Here, he commanded the 3rd division of 5,000 soldiers in the 1st invasion.
He also joined the first Korean campaign in the years 1592 and 1593. Here, he commanded the 3rd Division that consisted of 5,000 men during the first wave. On the second wave in the year 1597, he commanded The Army of the Right.
Nagamasa also joined in the Battle of Sekigahara, where he served Tokugawa Ieyasu. His men were able to kill Shima Sakon, which led to the victory of the Eastern Army. As a reward, Tokugawa gave him 520,000 Koku in exchange for his Nakatsu, Buzen fief. Later, he also joined in the campaigns of Osaka Castle.
