Hattori Hanzo
Hattori Hanzo was also called Hattori Masanari or Masashige. He acquired the nickname Oni No Hanzo or Demon Hanzo because of his skills.
The warrior was a popular Bushi of the Sengoku, and became known for saving Tokugawa Ieyasu’s life. He aided the warlord to become the ruler and unificator of Japan. In pop culture, he is usually the subject of different portrayals.
In the Tensho Iga Battle, Hanzo strategized a defense of the Iga province against Oda Nobukatsu. He was the Oda Nobunagas second son.
Hanzo fought valiantly but failed to prevent his province from elimination. This was when Nobunaga himself commanded his men to attack the area of Iga in 1581.
The most vital contribution of Hanzo came in the year 1582, following the death of Oda. This was when he led Tokugawa, the future Shogun, safety to Mikawa which was across the Iga territory. He sought help from the last few Ninja clans, including their long-time rivals in Koga.
