Pig the Zodiac Legend
In ancient mythology, the Jade Emperor called for the animals to gather for a grand meeting. However, the pig was the last one to arrive. According to some sources, it was Buddha who called for the meeting before he left the Earth. In all versions of the myth, the pig came in last.
In the legend, the Emperor heard an oink and squeal from a little pig when the day was about to end. This was where the term lazy pig came from. Since the pig got hungry during the race, it stopped to enjoy a feast then took a nap. The pig continued the race upon waking up, earning the 12th place. This made the pig the last animal of the zodiac cycle.
Other sources state that it was the pigs stout form that slowed it down, making it unable to do anything against other animals.
The Year of the Pig
Those born on the year of the pig do not really stand out in the crowd. While others may be all talk without action, pigs are the opposite since they are realistic.
They are not wasteful spenders but they love entertainment and an enjoyable lifestyle. They occasionally treat themselves and are slightly materialistic. This is their motivation to work harder since being able to have physical objects on hand makes them feel more secure.
Pigs are enthusiastic and energetic even when they have to do boring tasks. If there is a chance, they are willing to take higher positions with power and status.
